Immigration Minister announces steps to improving system

Canada's Immigration Minister has recently announced a series of steps being taken to address application backlogs and improve processing times.
These include:
1. Hiring additional staff to increase processing capacity.
2. Medical Exemption for some permanent and temporary residence applicants who are already in Canada are being exempted from the immigration medical exam requirement.
3. Transitioning to 100% Digital for most permanent residency programs starting September 2022.
4. More programs will have application status tracker.
5. Modernizing Canadian citizenship
By introducing these measures we hope that clients will once again gain confidence in the processing times as sometimes the system indicates one thing but the actual wait time tells another story. Let's wait and see how this one rolls out.
Improvement Coming for the Rural Northern Immigration Pilot

IRCC has announced an expansion to the RNIP .
The RNIP is an immigration pathway that works directly with communities in rural Canada to attract global talent and fill gaps in local labour markets.
This expansion includes measures such as:
1. Expanding the geographic boundaries
2. Making it easier to fill labour market needs in health care and trade sectors.
3. Allowing communities to participate for longer period until August 2024.
4. Reducing the amount of settlement funds participants are required to have.
5. Helping community partners provide greater support to candidates and employers
6. Strengthening program integrity
What are the steps to apply?
There are 4 steps to applying for permanent residence under this pilot.
1. Check that you meet both IRCC eligibility requirements and the community-specific requirements.
2. Find an eligible job with an employer in one of the participating communities.
3. Once you have a job offer, submit your application for recommendation to the community.
4. If a community recommends you, apply for permanent residence.
