This is an immigration system where Skilled workers can apply to become a permanent resident in Canada by entering a pool of candidates. Points are awarded based on age, work experience, qualification and other factors. Candidates with the highest points are selected from the pool.
In order to obtain a Canadian work permit you must have a job offer from a Canadian employer. In some cases there are exceptions if you have a spouse studying full time in Canada or if your spouse is working in certain positions in Canada.
If you plan to study for more than six (6) months in Canada you will need a study permit unless you are a minor. You must be enrolled full time in a designated learning institution and you must have a valid study permit.
If you are planning to visit Canada you may require a visitor visa unless you are from a country that is exempt. You will need to prove to the immigration officer that you plan to return to your home country after your visit therefore you must show ties to your country, proof of financial support among other supporting documentations.
In order to sponsor another person to come to Canada you must be 18 years or older: a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered as an Indian under teh Canadian Indian Act.
The Post Graduation Work Permit Program allows students who have graduated from eligible designated learning institutions to obtain an open work permit to gain valuable Canadian experience. A post graduation work permit my be issued based on the length of the study program for a minimum of 8 months up to a maximum of 3 years.
To be eligible for a super visa you must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. You must have a letter signed from your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada and you must have medical insurance coverage from a Canadian insurance company valid for at least 1 year.

Yes you can. Contrary to what you might have heard you do not need to have family or friends in Canada to visit Canada. You can visit as a tourist and stay at a hotel or air bnb. You can visit Canada for a specific event , seminar, concert ,visit attractions etc.
In order to maintain your permanent resident status in Canada , you must have been in Canada for 730 days during the last five years. This does not have to be continuous.
To be eligible for Canadian citizenship you must:
- be a permanent resident
- have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years
- have filed your taxes
- pass a citizenship test
- prove your language skills
